Hamilton/Tyree Basic Pen Repair Workshop at the DC

We will again be conducting hands-on repair workshops at the DC Fountain Pen
Supershow.  We offer the opportunity of attendance at one of two courses.

1. Basic Repair will cover bulb, lever and button filling pens and the Sheaffer
Touchdown, polishing and basic nib positioning.                    Cost $50
Prerequisites: Beginners--
must be new to repair--should not have successfully repaired more than 20 pens

2.Advanced Repair will cover vacuum fillers (Parker and Sheaffer) and piston filling
pens like Conklin Nozac, Montblanc and Pelikan.         Cost $150

   Prerequisites:  Advanced
must be comfortable with terminology and repair skills and have successfully repaired at
least 20 pens.  Must have good knowledge of how fountain pens work, must be
comfortable using basic repair tools and using heat in the repair process
The courses will be conducted on Sunday and the schedule is tentatively set for the
Basic course to begin at 9:00am until 12:00pm.  The Advanced course will begin at 1:00
and end at 5:00pm.  

Classes are limited to 10 participants  per course and pre-registration with payment is
required.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own pens but pens will be available
for use during the sessions for practice. Participants are also encouraged to bring their
own tools:

Knife,
Heat source (do not bring open flame heat sources)
Loupe/Magnifier
Nib pliers
Nib knock out block
Picks and scrapers
Protective Eyewear
Punch(es)
Round nose pliers
Scissor
Section pliers
Vacumatic Tool (For Advanced Course)
Some tools and repair literature will be available for purchase at the seminar.
